Before you decide
My laptop is dead. Can you still get my files off it?
In most cases, yes. A dead board does not affect the drive. We read the drive directly and copy your files, or repair the laptop with the drive left untouched.
Is my data safe when I hand my laptop in for repair?
Your drive stays in the laptop unless the repair needs it out, and we do not access your files. If the drive must come out, you see it happen and it is labelled with your name. Tell us if you would like a backup taken first.
The disk is clicking. What should I do?
Switch off and stop trying to boot it. Every attempt with failing heads scratches the platters. Bring it in; we assess whether imaging is possible here or a lab is needed.
Do you charge if nothing can be recovered?
No charge for a recovery that yields nothing. If a lab is needed, the lab quotes separately and you decide.
