Recovering data from a laptop that will not turn on
A dead laptop and dead data are two different things. In most "dead laptop" cases the drive is perfectly healthy and your files can be copied off in an hour. The exception is when the drive itself has failed, and then how you handle it decides what survives.
Quick answer
If the laptop died from a power, board or screen fault, the drive is fine: we remove it, read it in a healthy machine and copy your files to your new drive or external disk, or repair the laptop with the drive untouched. If the drive is the fault (clicking, not detected, bad sectors), stop using it; we image it here where possible and refer mechanical failures to a clean-room lab. No data, no charge for the recovery.

Safe checks you can do first
- If the drive makes clicking or grinding sounds, switch off and stop trying. That is the one urgent rule.
- Note whether the drive was encrypted (BitLocker) and whether you have your Microsoft account or recovery key.
- Bring an external drive or pen drive to receive your files, if you have one.
- Tell us which folders matter most so they are copied first.
What not to do
- Do not keep trying to boot a clicking drive.
- Do not run recovery software on a failing drive yourself; it stresses the drive and can destroy what is left.
- Do not open the drive.
- Do not let anyone reinstall Windows before the data is off.

Is my data safe when I send my laptop for repair?
The drive stays in the laptop unless the repair needs it out, and we do not access your files. If it comes out, it is labelled with your name in front of you. Ask for a backup first if you would like one.
Can I recover data from my dead laptop SSD?
If the laptop is dead but the SSD is healthy, yes, easily. If the SSD itself is dead (not detected anywhere), recovery is specialist work with uncertain odds; we say so up front.
My hard disk got corrupted. Can you recover everything?
Often most of it. Logical corruption on a healthy drive recovers well; bad sectors lose whatever sat on them. We tell you what came back before you pay.
